But infrared imaging and data interpretation are a complex field of expertise, requiring extensive classroom and field training. Professional certification for infrared home inspectors is an idea whose time has come. The SIRI (Specialist - Infrared Residential Inspector) training and certification program trains and empowers home inspectors to perform the world's most advanced, accurate and scientifically objective home inspections. The 40-hour training course and certification program were developed by HomeSafe Home Services, which pioneered the usage of customized, high-powered infrared and acoustic technologies combined with traditional inspection techniques in home inspections.

The course is offered by HomeSafe in conjunction with the University of Mississippi's Department of Outreach and Communications.
